Trader Wings

Confisco Grille is well-positioned for hungry park-goers on the way in or out of the park, but this sit-down restaurant offers little to really distinguish it from other IOA dining options. For table service, your options are admittedly limited to Confisco Grille or Mythos (where it can be much more difficult to get a table). If you’re not looking for a gourmet experience, the food here is average. Just keep in mind that you’re paying a premium for a waiter, and not for over-the-top delicious food.

Spinach and Artichoke Dip

On our visit, we tried both the Trader Wings with peach chipotle barbeque dressing and the Spinach and Artichoke Dip for appetizers. The wings lacked the flavor you might expect from a peach chipotle sauce, instead tasting primarily of run-of-the-mill barbeque. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip was primarily a cheese dip with a bit of spinach and artichoke thrown in. The one selling point of this appetizer was the grilled bread for dipping. The bread was the perfect combination of crisp and soft, and offered a refreshing alternative to chips (though chips were offered by our waitress as an alternative to the bread).

Tex-Mex Wrap

For entrees we had the Tex-Mex Wrap and Burger Sliders. The Tex-Mex Wrap was mostly tortilla and lettuce with far less chicken, salsa and dressing than I would have liked. The burgers were reasonably sized for sliders but otherwise a bit plain.

The atmosphere of Confisco Grille is an interesting mish-mash of memorabilia from other attractions in a cave-like setting reminiscent of an explorer’s hideaway. I believe the exact theming of the restaurant is that the pieces on display have been confiscated from explorers by the government (for the purpose of dangling them along the walls of the local diner…I suppose.)
