Height Restriction: None
Age Appropriateness: 1+ Children must be able to sit up on their own; this ride has lots of sharp twists and turns so Mom and Dad should keep an arm around small ones throughout.
Seat Type: Bench for two or three with lap bar
Ride Description: The Cat in the Hat takes you through the classic Dr. Seuss story with a colorful dark ride travelling past scenes from the book. Special effects are limited to a few black light scenes and figures are more of the ‘doll on a stick’ type than actual audioanimatronics. Still, the attraction is appropriate for nearly all ages and will keep small children enthralled with the bright, engaging colors and silly scenes. The vehicle moves fairly quickly through some parts of the ride and includes lots of sharp, unexpected turns and wild spins so the queasy may want to pass on this one.
Getting Ready: Hold off on lunch till after you’ve ridden The Cat in the Hat as the spins can be a bit much if your stomach is at all questionable. If you’re planning to bring small children to the park, pack a copy of the book for fun reading on the plane and encourage kids to look for recognizable moments from the story in the ride’s interpretation. If you don’t have a copy of the book, stop by All The Books You Can Read afterwards and pick one up for a souvenir you’ll actually use.
Worth the Wait: Unless you’re just looking to get out of the sun, I wouldn’t wait more than 15 or 20 minutes for this one.
Ride Restrictions: You should not ride this attraction if you:
- are expecting
- have a heart condition or abnormal blood pressure
- have neck, back, or similar physical conditions
- are susceptible to motion sickness
- have a medical condition aggravated by fog effects
Guests in wheelchairs may remain in their chairs on the ride. Guests in ECVs will be asked to transfer to a wheelchair provided at the attraction.
